Monday Friendship Circle:

This is a support group, mostly elderly and disabled persons, doing craft work. Their monthly bring and buy helps with fundraising.

 Monday Afternoon Shopping Trip:

Co-ordinators: Mal Causer and Don Medland

Shopping Trips are usually held once a fortnight for frail-aged and disabled people.

 Physiotherapy Support Groups:

Co-ordinator: Mrs Carol Gibson

These groups meet every Wednesday morning (8.45am to 11.30) and afternoon (1pm to 3pm).

They are for people who are eligible under Home and Community Care (HACC) funding.These are group setups with trained volunteers applying heat packs and giving massages under the supervision of a physiotherapist. The physiotherapist spends a short time with each client, assessing, monitoring progress and giving treatment.

People who are socially isolated benefit greatly from these groups as there are lots of interaction and morning or afternoon tea is included.

 Playtime Group:

A playtime group (mothers and children) is held each Friday (10am to noon) at the Community Centre.

 Referrals and information:

The Centre’s referral set up is available to the community. Information and referral to a suitable agency can be obtained by phoning or dropping in to the Centre

Health matters, legal systems, housing, domestic violence, aged care and disability services are a few of the possible referrals.

 In-Home Hairdressing:

This Grooming Service is for people who cannot get out to a hairdressing salon because of a disability or frailty.

 New - To - You Bargain Shop:

The Centre’s Bargain Shop sells second -hand articles and clothing, kitchen ware and other treasures. Come in and browse between 9am. and 4pm. Monday to Friday. The Bargain Shop is in the Community Centre house at 19 Rogoona Street Morningside.

 Gardening Club:

Co-ordinator: Beverley Bill

The Gardening Club is a social group with a gardening interest. Volunteers help maintain a small plot for clients who can’t work in their garden.There are also outings and lots of morning/afternoon teas together.

 Thursday Afternoon Cuppa and Chat Group:

This small, self directing group enjoys getting together, swapping yarns, outings etc. .Some time each Thursday is spent planning the next activity.

 Community Life Program:

Co-ordinator: Shirley Pickering

The Community Life Program is a new initiative of the Centre. The aim of this project is to recruit and train volunteers to go out into the community to visit those who are lonely, frail aged, isolated and disabled.

The role of the volunteer will be, to encourage and help those visited to become re-involved in their community.

 Home Visiting - Community Life Program:

The Centre has a program of training volunteers to visit elderly and disabled people in their own home and ultimately bringing them back into the community.
